Wow. What a bad movie. Unintentionally hilarious in several places. Not only a very generic and cliché-packed cop-movie thriller (never, EVER trust the guy who is first seen talking fondly -- and repeatedly -- about his long-deceased partner), but hokey as all get-out. And to think it was directed by Philip Kaufman, the not-so-prolific director whose last five films were, in reverse chronological order, Quills (2000), Rising Sun (1993), Henry & June (1990), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988) and The Right Stuff (1983), all of which had SOME sort of social, political and/or historical significance. (I say this as one who has never seen the 1988 or 1990 films, but has certainly heard and read about them.) He also has a "story" and/or "characters" credit on the Indiana Jones trilogy (1981-1989). So ... what happened?

I'm sorry to read this. I have been wanting to see it despite being less than impressed with Quills and moderately impressed with the others.
