My family just finished watching Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and yesterday, while I was home sick from work, I watched Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - twice. smile.gif

I've seen these films umpteen times, but what struck me in these last two days was that I think TSFS is actually a better movie than TVH, and I've never thought that before. TVH is funnier - by far - and perhaps a lot more fun, but the plot of TSFS feels tighter, the execution of TVH sloppier. TSFS is a deeper, more intimate look at the characters, and in some ways more involving than TVH. TSFS is operatic and grand, whereas TVH is light comedy. Maybe it's hard to compare the two, they are so different. But does anyone else think that TSFS is a better movie?

My favorite Treks are The Wrath of Khan and First Contact, and I don't think that TSFS reaches those heights quite, but it might wind up in my third slot, just above TVH.

Ahem (for the first ten films).

Link to the thread for the eleventh film.
