Full Version: Is Zeffirelli too old?

Is Zeffirelli too old? (he's 81) His last film I saw was Tea with Mussolini, althought IMDB lists Callas Forever (2002), which I didn't see. (anyone else?)

Mr. Page's comments about Powell's blue eyes made me realize that, if he were able, (and if the original film still exists), Zeff. could go back and re-master Jesus of Nazareth, including -- an interesting thought -- changing Robert Powell's pale blue eyes to brown. That's just what Gibson did in his film.

I was very disappointed, overall in the Jesus of Nazareth DVD, since it's no better than the VHS version (other than the DVD format itself).

You're only too old if you say you're too old. Look at Manoel de Oliveira. Unbelievable what that guy has done. I think he's nearly a century old now, and he's cranked out something like 14 films in the last 13 years. Many of them are highly respected films, too. I'm not his biggest fan, but i thought Benilde was quite good when i caught it on the big screen last fall.

And look at Blake Edwards! That guy has to be 100 and he is still making us laugh.

(This post is in reference to his Oscars antics.)
