A place to share the "mystery and manners" of memorable scenes of prayer portrayed in your favored films. In those that for you alone are likened to a prayer, personably resonant or ever so remarkably darn close to fit nicely in the almost category as inspiration, so put it out there. Whether it be a scene, a nuance of expression or residing there in a bit of dialogue perhaps, Heck even amidst a voice over will do.. the only qualification being that after witnessing you found yourself upon a threshold of the numinous and where u have since remained or yearn to returns again since the end of the final credit.
I hope in the sharing such things will fortify and bear at its minimum an insight or two into our humanity, our strengths, our frailty and our dreams and in the doing serve as a handy index to that which might not be lost "like tears in rain" as so aptly put in the telling of another great film beheld and inscribed so in the eyes of our hearts and often overlooked once again amidst our busy lives.
I'll start...
the big 4:
Uno: my favorite prayer scene i guess is there in the movie Shadowlands(1993)... the humility and the economy of Anthony Hopkins performance throughout and of not for that moment of his showing his future wife where he kneels to pray i found all very moving. And there even more so the closing lines in the film itself. For me those words crouch around the corners of my everyday.
Dos: in the almost category: the character Kits voiceover "of the same quite calm" while his mother reaching to that youth... hand to lace in the Thin Red Line 1998
Tres: for courage... The Eight Day (1996) a french film, if not for my lovely son Noah
Quatro: Leolo: the narrator: Because I dream, I am not. The strongest comma in the world...and an incredible line.
Put it out there i look forward to the posts
