Neither the A&F search function nor Google produces a thread dedicated to the work of one of my favorite writers, Richard Price. I know I've posted about him here, but it must've been in the broader threads that I don't have time to search just now.

It's with great delight that I have discovered that Price has just released a new novel, "Lush Life." Here's the New York Times review. And although a search of Paste's site doesn't turn up a review, the Powell's newsletter today alerts me that Paste has said of the novel, "If you don't know Price yet, this book is a great entry. You'll leave the space most authors occupy and move into the realm of masterpiece."

I've put it on hold at the library, in print and in audio. I'll tackle whichever version comes through first. Can't wait!

Another Price fan checking in. I've only read Clockers, but it was so good that I feel like I can call him one of my favorites. I've been waiting for Lush Life to show up at my local book store, but no dice yet.

Price also wrote extensively for my favorite TV show, the Wire. Some of his episodes were among the best.

Another Price fan here for the roll call.

Clockers, Samaritan and Lush Life comprise an absolute Murderer's Row of classic fiction.

Oh, have to add — finished Samaritan a few months ago. It's one of the best novels I've read in a long time; not only is it well-written on a pure stylistic basis (he has an incredible ear for how people talk), but it really sails through some relatively uncharted moral waters. It's a book that, having finished it, I went to all of my friends and beg that they read it. HIGHLY recommended.

Michiko Kakutani puts Lush Life on her year-end 10 Best List.
