Here's a headline straight from the Weekly World News: Elbow talks!

Now the headline reads more like The Onion (albeit more grammatically suspect):

"Elbow don't want world domination"

I was late to the party with "Leaders of the Free World," so this is the first Elbow album that I've been able to look forward to. I'm eager to hear it.

Elbow won the Mercury Music prize last night. They seemed pretty pleased with themselves.

I went to see Elbow last night. They were excellent. Guy Garvey really possess the knack of charming a crowd. They ended their first set with a song from the latest album, that ends with the lines "So throw those curtains wide/One day like this a year would see me right", and it was a special moment. I can't think of a better lyricist in a current band.

edit: Nick Cave doesn't count.

I had to seek these guys out after Rob Bell used a video for "One Day Like This" in a teaching a few weeks ago. It took me a little while to figure out who the band was, but due to that song and this thread, I'll download the rest of the recording now.

PS Here is the video. Very beautiful -- taking the mundane and working beauty into the midst of it. Love it.
