The Los Angeles Times reports that Leonardo DiCaprio will star in Ridley Scott’s big-screen version of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.

Story here.

Wow, with Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian and David Ignatius‘ Body of Lies already on his plate, looks like Scott’s got a hankerin’ for big literary adaptations.

Jeffrey Wells links to a new Eclipse interview with Ridley Scott, where he discusses his next three films: A House of Lies, Nottingham, and some mystery sci-fi project.

What's the big mystery? The LA Times already announced Brave New World!

What's this!!! what's this!!! to quote that song of Jack Skeleton courtesy of Nightmare before Christmas.... alas i thought he was going to do Blood Meridian... perhaps Hillcoat then will be the ring bearer of Cormac McCarthy's fever dream....

But this is indeed good news and pardon the bit of angst, Sir Scott , his cinematographers and that uber art department of his simply rock . He makes scifi look like
its not sci fi but Real like its really going down way way out there in the stars... and that sweat is real... whereas our home grown boys like Lucas and Spielberg flip the coin to see who gets Janusz Kaminski as their director of cinematography....

Sci fi and Ridley Scott.. He's like Lawrence of Arabia's dir. David Lean on Steroids.... the only director whose art direction has passed through the shadow of 2001 and raised the bar at that.... With these two actors i look forward to this... oh I hope he gets real writer for the screenplay! something with that Barton Fink feeling (Just kidding)...but its a great book and this could be big!! pray they don't get bogged down by the car technology crap and the sunlit music video look that Bay's film The Island had save for the yoeman's job of Sean Bean.

Yet Scott's track record of books to film as Joseph Conrad short story to the Duelists (1977) and Phillip Dick's Do Androids Dream into Blade Runner 1982 are to this day buttoned down. These look like they were just shot yesterday... now its been a while since i read the book or its the soma finally kicken' in but there is no snow in Brave New World is there... cause plz Sir Ridley put Andrei Tarkovsky's floating feather as snow machines away blink.gif! fair knight u got the content!

Now Run Ridley RUN!

Ridley Scott Confirms He's Making Brave New World
Have you finished the script or are you close?
No, no no we're still struggling with that one. I have 40 things on the go at once. But that's a very important one. And sometimes, some surface faster than the others. It's partly luck of the draw. Even with a good writer, he'll do it and screw up. So then you go back to the table and start all over again, it's hard. The hardest single thing is getting it on paper.
