I'm not trying to draw attention to Movieguide's unethical behavior again, or their transparent efforts to congratulate themselves...

but to quote one of the presidents they so vocally revere in their reviews: "There they go again."

(Los Angeles)  -- The winners of the 12th Annual MOVIEGUIDE Awards were announced last night in a ceremony gala held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. The Top 10 Films For Family Audience chosen by the Christian Film & Television Commission, a non-profit advocacy group that promotes Christian values in Hollywood, were Cheaper By The Dozen, Finding Nemo, Peter Pan, Piglet's Big Movie, Pirates of The Carribean, Secondhand Lions, Sinbad: Legend of The Seven Seas, Spellbound, Spy Kids 3D, and The Gospel of John.

The Top 10 Films For Mature Audiences - Gods & Generals, In America, The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The Kings, Luther, Master And Commander: The Far Side of The World, Matchstick Men, The Matrix Revolutions, Seabisquit, Tears of The Sun, and X2: X-Men United.

The Templeton Epiphany Prize winner for Films went to The Gospel of John.  The Templeton Epiphany Prize for TV went to Hallmark Channel's \"Love Comes Softly.\"  The Epiphany Prizes are awarded to encourage the production of feature films and television programs which are uplifting, inspirational and acknowledging God, His love, His mercy and His grace.   The Grace Award for Film was awarded to Stephen Lang of Gods And Generals and The Grace Award for TV went to Dale Midkiff in \"Love Comes Softly.\"  The Grace Prize is presented annually to the actors or actresses who, through their performance, best exemplify God's grace and mercy towards human beings.

I am especially impressed that they noticed the little-known films

The Return of the Kings
and

Seabisquit

Isn't Sea-bisquit the movie about the horse who dropped out of the race halfway?
Jason Bortz
Dunno, but living in Sacramento I'm sure I've seen that documentary about our basketball team...

It would be much worse if a MovieGuide-promoted film had won the *cash* prizes. If I read this right, the money went to The Gospel of John (for Film) and to Love Comes Softly (TV). Not sure if the Grace Awards (for acting) come with any cash...

The other awards are the small crystal "Teddy Bear" awards. I don't think an award like that will be much of a consolation to the guys who lost a fortune on Gods and Generals, for example. I take your point about the awards being tainted because Baehr's relationship is not arms-length, but it's such a pittance it barely registers.
