How can it be that there's no thread on this movie?

Or am I just missing it somehow?

Anyway...

Scott Tobias just added this film to the A.V. Club's New Cult Canon. Good for him!

On most days, if you ask me, this is my favorite documentary. Ever. (Once in a while, I'll say Stevie. But usually it's this.) And it's one of my favorite films to show to discussion groups.

I had no idea you liked the film that much, Jeff. It was easily my favorite film of 1997, and it has a special place in my heart because it was the subject of my first-ever article for Books & Culture -- an article for which I even interviewed Errol Morris. (FWIW, my review.)

Links to our threads on Gates of Heaven (1980), The Dark Wind (1991), The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara (2003) and Standard Operating Procedure (2008), as well as threads on 'Errol Morris's new series of ads' (Aug 9-12, 2004) and 'Errol Morris on Robert Fenton's Crimea War photos' (Oct 5 - Dec 24, 2007).

Watched this today. While I'm not as enthusiastic as Jeffrey and Peter, it is the most artistically done doc I've seen.
