Got an email from Jeffery Goddard, promoting BOTTLE SHOCK. I don't remember what the other film was he recommended (don't remember Jeffery either, for that matter - but hey, one gets a lot of email, doesn't one?).

Anybody know this film?

It's playing in the D.C. market and opened to generally upbeat specialized business this past weekend.

Among Star Trek fans, it's known for co-starring Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk in the upcoming movie.

An enjoyable film. A celebration of good wine that could do for Chardonnay what Sideways did for Pinot Noir. Alan Rickman is a hoot as a British wine snob. His reaction to his first taste of Kentucky Fried Chicken is priceless.

Chris Pine, and his hair, is OK as the hippie underachieving son of the vineyard owner, but it's hard to say how his style will translate to being Captain Kirk. At least he'll probably look good sitting in the Captain's Chair of the Enterprise.

I saw the trailer for this some time ago at the theater and enjoyed it more than the film I was there to see (the Brideshead remake). I don't know if I'll be able to catch it in theaters, but I may look for it on DVD.
