This little film is really quite nice. Chinese man comes over to visit his divorced daughter in Spokane. It seems they have nothing to say to each other. It has very interesting sections of silence -- nothing is being said, but there is always something going on.

my review - my notes from roundtable with Wayne Wang and Henry O

Also, another film by Wang based on a story by the same author (Yiyun Li) is going to make it's premiere on YouTube on Oct. 17. A bit from press release:
QUOTE
Los Angeles, CA – September 10, 2008 – Magnolia Pictures announced today acclaimed filmmaker Wayne Wang’s new film THE PRINCESS OF NEBRASKA will make its world premiere on YouTube™ on Friday, October 17, 2008. The free release on YouTube's recently launched YouTube Screening Room (http://www.youtube.com/ytscreeningroom), a channel dedicated to premium film content, is part of a larger distribution plan, which will launch with Magnolia Pictures' theatrical release on Friday, September 19 of Wang's companion film A THOUSAND YEARS OF GOOD PRAYERS. Magnolia, Cinetic Rights Management and YouTube worked together to plan the parallel distribution strategy.

Both films were included in the press notes I got when I went to 1000 Years screening.

A bump to remind those interested that The Princess of Nebraska can currently be seen at YouTube Screening Room
