I guess this thread will have a lot of spoilers by virtue of its subject matter, so I am not sure how to proceed. I am trying to come up with a list of films that contain religious death rituals, scenes to compare to the end of... Silent Light. Don't read that if you haven't seen the latest film by Reygadas. (See how tricky this is?) So far I have Dead Man , which ends on a memorable death ritual, but I can't think of any more. Maybe Barbarian Invasions, though I remember thinking of that scene as the epitome of a secular death ritual.
Any others?

Fictional films?
IIRC, the wordless documentary Baraka has a death ritual. I also saw another film that ended with a body being placed on a floating structure and pushed out to sea. Maybe it was something from Angelopolous?

Not seen that film so no idea how these films would compare but
Nell (and that one is at the start)
Tideland (The Gilliam film if the title isn't quite right)
The Wickerman

Kundun leapt to my mind the moment I saw this thread's title.

Didn't we have a thread on funerals in films? I'm sure PTC can find it.
Anyway:
