Full Version: Best Movies with Amphibious Endings?
Arts and Faith > Art & Media > Film > Film Awards, Festivals, and Lists
Nick Alexander
In a nod to these other two threads I thought we could have a discussion about films that have amphibious endings.

What are your favorite amphibious endings?

My faves:

Magnolia (whose endings is also ambiguous and ambitious...)
The Muppet Movie
Waterworld

Any others?
Jason Panella
I knew this was coming.

The Fog (Carpenter's)
Guns of Naverone
Lifeboat
Overstreet

No.

But should you start a thread of Best Movies with Ambidextrous Endings, that would be great.

No one has said it yet, shockingly:

Jaws!

I need not put in spoiler tags, I hope...just in case: spoilers1.gif

It's ending is amphibious (duh: it ends in the water), ambitious (the explosion sequence involving the shark is STILL one of my favorite effects shots of all time, glorious in its crimson shower of shark gore even if it is dated), AND ambiguous (what, ultimately, are we supposed to make of it when Brody and Hooper ponder Quint's demise in a terse, wordless exchange?).
