A quick look (which means I may have missed something) shows that a couple of straight comedies made the first list (
Groundhog Day, Dogma. There are still a few comedies underconsideration (many with comedic aspects, but fewer that are basically comedy) The ones I see still under debate are:
Bedazzled, Life of Brian and
Bruce Almighty. Of these, I look to
Bedazzled as most deserving. The casting of Raquel Welch as Lust in itself is worth this being considered. I also think it's the funniest of the comedies under consideration, that should count for something.
Darrel, you are quite right about the 1967
Bedazzled, but not so much because of Raquel Welch. Why is she the only thing (or the first thing) people (should I make that male people, or would that be sexist?

) remember about this movie? She has about two scenes and maybe two lines--as if anyone cares.
The two (or three) best reasons
Bedazzled (1967) belongs on the Promontory 100 are:
1&2. Peter Cook & Dudley Moore in their comedy team heyday. They are brilliant.
3. The presentation of sin and of God in this movie, while not perfectly orthodox (what is?), is a whale of a lot better than that in the recent remake.
And, of course, it's funny.
