I've been dreading this story for years. I'd say that he's my alltime favorite leftie. I've read most of his books and he was unsurpassed in getting folks to talk on subject. Excellent historian and just all around good guy. Unique among men.

Working was a masterpiece. The stage version is excellent as well.

His ability to coax out oral history is amazing. I heard somewhere that he never read the books of people he was interviewing while they were doing their book tours. I suspect reading the book would interfere with getting them to talk about it themselves.
