If we have a topic for either version of this show, I can't find it.
I caught the last season of the original UK version on BBC-America and then a few of the earlier episodes in a BBCA "marathon" just before the USA version premiered. The original is--the original--but I have to admit that the US version has really captured me, perhaps partly because I connect more easily to the 1970s American milieu, but also because I think the casting is generally great. Jason O'Mara is not John Simm, but he is very effective. Some critics have said Harvey Keitel is "too old" for Gene Hunt, but he's still got more charisma than most and I think he's fine for the role. I feel that turning Gretchen Moll blonde may not have been the best decision...or the best casting...at any rate, she hasn't had much to do, yet. Too bad, for an actor who was so brilliant in The Notorious Bettie Page.
The first few ABC eps hewed very closely to the BBC scripts, but it seems to be shaping up its own way more now--or those who've seen more of the original can correct me. Last night's "Things to Do in New York when You Think You're Dead" including some intriguing elements regarding faith, as well.
