I doubt these guys will ever make a killer album, but their latest is, if nothing else, pretty fun.

Hmm, Josh I don't know. I've given the album one listen, and during the second one yesterday I just turned it off and put on the new Kanye again (yes, really, I think it's actually fantastic). I thought I liked The Killers, but this was grating.

I mean, I'm pretty easy for big hooks and all, but the saxophone on "I Can't Stay" just feel weird, like they're aping Steely Dan without understanding how to make it work. You said that the chanting at the beginning of "This Is Your Life" seemed to fit, but I just don't agree. There are so many awkward moments on here, that the fun just doesn't break through for me.

I think they've fallen further away from their strengths with each album. This doesn't feel like a return to form after Sam's Town. It feels like a misstep to me, but perhaps I need to be persuaded of it's strengths. I just don't think they'll do better "Mr. Brightside" or "All These Things That I've Done," at least the new album doesn't have a single song that convinces me of that.
