Whoa -- I just thought of a whole other element of allegory or shadowing of the life of Jesus into this film.

The film opens with another actor, who (pointing to Daniel) says "Now there's an actor."

John the Baptist!

Hey, I explicitly MENTIONED that in the post-film discussion last week! The actor to whom you refer is actually a fusion of John the Baptist and Judas Iscariot -- like John, he serves as a sort of forerunner and he is defeated by a woman who "wants his head", and like Judas, he betrays his colleagues and "hangs" himself (not only quasi-literally in the Brothers Karamazov play, but metaphorically, when his face is put on the poster for cologne and "hung" in the subway).

You were there? ohmy.gif

Just kidding. With all the other brilliant comments and observations, I must have missed that one. For some reason it just floated into my head this morning.

Just wondering, what do you mean by this?
