OK, last one, really--I mean it this time. Macbeth deserves a poll. IMHO, it is probably ripe for a new film version, given the absolutely vicious reviews both have received. Are they justified? Is one less bad than the other? Are they both equally bad? Equally good? Which one would win in a fair fight? Is it bad luck to say "Macbeth" when performing Macbeth?

Also worth noting is Kurosawa's Throne of Blood ("Kumonosu jô").

Hmmm. Bringing up Kurosawa makes me think about King Lear (in the brilliant Ran). Let's see...oh, thank goodness: no major (straight) film versions (yet). OK, I think that's it. Really.

This may be the most difficult of the Shakespeare's to decide on. Each film in their own right are outstanding... Welles' camera work is just stunning... but Polanski made you feel as if you were looking at something out of a time capsule. Good thing there was a choice for both included in your poll.

Anyone familiar with the recent film, Scotland, PA?

Re: King Lear, we could always run a poll to see whether Ran or The Godfather Part III is the more popular film.

I would hope everyone on this board would, in every way, pick Ran over Godfather Part III.

Who ran over GODFATHER PART III? Was anybody hurt?
