From the
Flickerings News thread...
Ah, yes, the A&F BBQ. Looks like it'll be on 7/1, yes - maybe 5pm or 5:30pm? I'll probably post details at the fest, depending on where everyone ends up camping. But, please keep dinnertime on the 1st open. (Mike, you can add it to the schedule, if you want: call in an "Arts & Faith BBQ Social" or something).
(thinking out-loud) Would it be possible to actually have this at or near the "temple" -- some folks (such as me) will have portable BBQs to share. It'll be BYOF (bring-your-own-food) and plates, etc. entirely (or buy from vendors and bring). I can ask Stef to make "Hello my name is..." tags.

Hmmm, I don't think I'm arriving until the 1st, but I'll see if I can arrive in time for this.
I note that the 11th Annual rec.music.christian BBQ is also on the 1st, at 11:30am, in the Press Tent.

Thanks for the note on rmc. The Flickerings program starts at 7pm on 7/1, so it made sense to have our BBQ just before that.

It may be fun to not have nametags and have everyone who doesn't know each other guess at who is who. But then again that may also be stupid.
Count me in, I should be there by then.

FWIW, I finally solidified my travel plans and it looks like I'll be arriving in Peoria at almost exactly noon on July 1 ... so I'll be missing the RMC BBQ, but I should be able to make it to the A&F BBQ. (And I'll be bussing it -- whee! which means leaving Vancouver on Election Day ... when the results come in, I'll be learning who the new Canadian Prime Minister is from the American media ... )

Peter, let me know if someone from JPUSA isn't already coming to get you; I can pick you up at the bus station in Peoria.

Thanks, Alan. As I understand it, Cornerstone's running a shuttle between the hotel in Macomb and the airport in Peoria (which, conveniently, is where the bus trip ends), and I assume there's regular transportation between the hotel and the festival grounds, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I've got the where:
It's where the Flickerings afternoon workshop, "Eight-Hour Film School" will be taking place. The location is directly across the gravel turn-around area behind the Flickerings building (at the Dance Club stage end of the building) at the edge of the woods. There's a tent-awning, chairs, tables, and if all goes well, a very unique centerpiece. An ideal setting for a picnic.

Five o'clock at the eight-hour film school ... five o'clock at the eight-hour film school ... okay, got it. I'm signing off now. See you there, hopefully!

It's a go -- July 1st at 5pm at the film-school location.
PLEASE NOTE!!!
I will provide a grill, napkins, plates, ketchup, mustard, cheese (of course), and cups. I will have a VERY LIMITED supply of extra food (for folks without transportation or refrigeration), so PLEASE:
- Bring your own entree (small-grill food, please: hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken breasts are best, etc.)
- Bring your own beverage (although I will have cups, in case anyone brings 2l bottles.
If anyone wants to bring mustard, relish, or anything else, please feel free.
