Really enjoyed this Altman film after passing it over for a while. Great inside jokes and a great movie within a movie. Such a great partial satire of the industry that has drawn his fire over the years.

It's been over a decade since I saw this film, but the thing I remember about it most is thinking, after it was over, that it was kind of like Crimes and Misdemeanors, except where Woody Allen had to tell two stories to make his point, Altman did it in one.

But I would probably have to see the film again before I could explain exactly why I thought that.

It's funny you should compare Crimes and Misdemeanors with The Player, because I remember having the same reaction. But over the years I have revisisted Woody's film several times, and have not had a repeat viewing of Altman's film since it was in theatres. I might have to remedy that soon.

True, but it seems to me that Allen is more making a point about human nature, and Altman is more making a point about Hollywood culture.

But which one is influencing which? wink.gif
