  1. I agree with Yeh up there--the debut is excellent, and I love If I Left The Zoo. Who We Are Instead is also fabulous though. I wonder what happened to my copy of Eleventh Hour? I find Much Afraid to be their weakest album (although I haven't heard the new one, or Redemption Songs.)
  2. Having seen what other actors have accomplished who were previously unknown as singers (Renee Zellweger, Reese Witherspoon, etc.), I am not going to count Depp out. I'd watch him in almost anything anyway. However, I saw it with Bryn Terfel at the Lyric and he is certainly not going to beat that. a friend of mine counts Todd as his favorite musical by far, and I once mentioned to him that there was nothing of redemptive value/theology in it. He parried that Couldn't argue with that.

I am new to the forum so I don't know if it's been discussed. However, I did see it, whilst taking the class "Bible, Arabs and Israel" at Wheaton. It is very poignant. Highly recommended (and in my Netflix queue to see again).
  4. from his book-jacket bio, i get the impression that he identifies much more strongly with being British than being Japanese.
  5. re: Cry the Beloved Country: Loved the book, loved the James Earl Jones movie.
  6. I recently saw both of those movies (HE and ROTD), and I liked both. HE was a more difficult adaptation I think, it has so many disparate elements that it struggles for a genre. Now I need to read both books.
  7. I had read Ms. Nicolosi's blog before going, and I felt her criticism just helped me prepare for seeing it. I didn't particularly enjoy those parts that she mentioned, but I loved the rest of it.
  8. I just saw my first OTR concert a couple of months ago here in L.A. It was fabulous! I can't wait to get a copy of "On A Roll."
