Generally love the album although I think Get Ready Marie is a huge miss. Possibly my least favorite song she's ever written.

Maria Mckee's recent live version of Save Me. (I don't know what is up with the erotic dancer on crutches)

After listening to Cherokee and Ruin for the past month over and over again, I had high hopes for this album. I am a bit underwhelmed. LIkes: Silent Machine (even with that very noisy middle), Peace and Love, Manhattan I wish the new version of King Rides By was on this album. If you have not heard King Rides By, look it up on Youtube. It is so very lovely.

And a new beautiful live LaBlogotheque Take Away Show performance:

My Brightest Diamond (Shara Worden) is excellent live but her albums are either a hit or miss for me. I really like the 1st track of this album. I was thinking "yes! this is the fun quirkiness that is missing from Feist's and Bjork's new albums" http://www.youtube.com/embed/jLlFQf3iQ0M

I want to love this album and experience the same thing that the critics who are giving it 5-stars are experiencing, but I have not experienced it yet.

It took me 10 years to love Is This Desire. I love this new album in the 1st listen.

What other people has Buddy Miller produced for? I am just not convinced he was the right person to produce a gospel album for Patty. I think Julie should start branching out too to make a decent comeback on a solo album. Eeeks, I am the devil.

I still prefer Bamnan and Slivercork over Trials and when I heard some of the new songs on Hypem and Youtube, all I could think was John Michael Talbot. It has that celibate monk in robe vibe to it.

"O Holy Night" is amazing. It is very Leslie.

i am surprised that the "is V anti-obama?" discussion hasn't started here

http://www.amplifier.co.nz/release/44486/chant-darling-.html I think this album is too good to be overlooked. Listen to it online since it is a New Zealand release and I am not sure it is distributed in the US. Notable tracks: Apple Pie Bed, Dream Teacher, Looks Like A Fool, Beautiful Young Crew

So does anyone find it strange that Sam will be appearing at the Soulfest 2008 festival? Is she backsliding to CCM? Is the intrumental beginning of Don't Say Anything Collage a backmasking of PowerRoom Politics? http://www.thesoulfest.com/2008/images/etc/schedule.jpg

I emailed management@mariamckee.com last week to ask her to put up an official myspace page and woohoo....ask and you shall receive. ok maybe it was just coincidence, but nonetheless.... http://www.myspace.com/mariamckeeofficial BTW. I really like Destine. The ooooohwahs in it remind me of a Freddy Mercury Queen song which I don't have on the top of my head at this moment in time.

If I recall correctly, she is related to Carl "AC" Newman. A niece maybe.

I just heard some 1994 songs from a band called Placebo (not the british band, but a canadian band) and the singer sounds just like PJ Harvey. Doing some research, the singer happens to be a young Leslie Feist. It was from an EP album called Don't Drink The Bathwater
