    Lost

from zap2it.com: "ABC's new drama "Lost" premiered to a surprisingly strong 11.6/19, dominating the 8 p.m. hour." That is very exciting! It's hard to find quality shows that don't get cancelled after about 6 episodes. I'm glad to see this one will probably be around for a while

    NFL Begins

being from philadelphia, i am trying to become an eagles fan. The problem is, I grew up a seahawks fan, and even though I don't like Seattle now, it's been hard to become a fan of another team. I like the eagles players but I've always found the fans to be annoying and obnoxious and dumb. I find myself wanting the eagles to lose so the fans can be miserable. anyway, week 1. eagles had to be the most impressive no? Now that Donovan has a #1 WR, we will finally see what he is capable of. Superbowl pick: eagles underrated: bengals overrated: packers surprise player of the year, lee suggs. any other predictions or rants?

    Bollywood

The latest bollywood film I've seen, Kal Ho Naa Ho, is very good. They do a version of Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman that is fabulous. Alot of the musical numbers in this film are awesome. Its a movie about friendship and love and living life to the fullest. Kal Ho Naa Ho translates 'tomorrow may never be'. Nothing new in content but done very well. Very funny and emotional. The acting was excellent. I'm wondering when a bollywood star will cross over and do an American film. They have the talent.

  12. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/tlg/38966236.html What other type of people do I need besides a director and actors? An editor? A lighiting person? or is all that something that's taken care of by the director?
  13. hey steene, good idea, ambitious, but how would this work practically? for one, i noticed you're in germany, and i'm in philadelphia. i have a short film i'm working on now and i've put an add online searching for a co director and actors. it's worked, so far. they are people in my area who i can get together with. can you see your idea working just thru onine communication?

    The Normals

I've recently picked up Derek Webb's She Must and Will go Free and was reminded of a great album, Coming to Life, by the Normals. Similar sound and similar honesty. Here are lyrics to two songs: black dress (song about davids sin with bathsheba) Will she walk slowly Or will she come at all I cant believe that I was watching Cant believe I made the call I cant get a handle on my thoughts now Guess Ive already made my mind Hes a soldier in my battle Im the king with too much time Will she wear that black dress Will she wear that black dress As holy as the night As holy as I want to feel I want to feel all right What if she is angry I know that were both scared Do I look her in the eye or do I even dare to care Im drowning in desire Ive been good for so long I know Ive got no right now But no one can tell me that Im wrong Will she wear that black dress Will she wear that black dress As holy as the night As holy as I want to feel I want to feel all right Maybe Ill be good I could be gone when she gets here Ive still got a chance to make this one all right My temptations on the stairway My temptations at the door My temptation is before me She is standing before me in that black dress We are the beggers at the foot of gods door: We are gathered in cathedrals on a Sunday We are shrouded in our pride and lusts despair We have heard that You said to go to where your hearts once were Trusting wed arrive to find You there We have known the empty senses of a funeral We are haunted by the promises of death We have asked to see Your face and noticed nothing But a well-timed honest smile from a friend, Oh we of little faith, Oh You of stubborn grace We are the beggars at the foot of Gods door We have grown cold to the kisses of our lovers We have rolled the windows up and driven through The forests of the autumn, The innocence of snow The metaphor of Jesus in the dew We have known the heated passion of the cold night We have sold ourselves to everything we hate Were hypocrites and politicians running from a fight Weve cheated on a very jealous mate, Oh we of little faith, Oh You stubborn grace We are the beggars at the foot of Gods door We have known the pain of loving in a dying world And our lies have made us angry at the truth But Cinderellas slipper fits us perfectly And somehow were made royalty with You, Oh we of little faith, Oh You of stubborn grace We are the beggars at the foot of Gods door And You have welcomed us in

Just finished Hum Tum last night. Wow! What an emotional experience. Everything is over dramatic and cheesy, and I loved it. I thought alot about it was very well done. Beautiful direction, cinematography, genuine acting, great writing. I highly highly reccomend it. Funny, entertaining, heartfelt. I wanna watch it again right now!

I started watching Hum Tum, which is like When Harry Met Sally, but with singing and dancing. Isn't this the way it should be? Everything is so much more fun with singing and dancing!

I enjoyed it. I agree with Ebert when he says "This is not a perfect movie; it meanders and ambles and makes puzzling detours. But it's smart and unconventional, with a good eye for the perfect detail" One puzzling detour that I'm thinking of is the mission his gravedigger buddy takes him on. I thought that went on entirely too long with very little payoff. I also thought Ian Holm was wasted. Some problems I had, possible spoilers: There is a scene I didn't like towards the end where he finally talks to his father and it comes acrossed as an unfair lecture. On top of that, the moment didn't feel genuine, it felt written. I thought the soundtrack felt forced at times and was trying too hard to be cool. And I thought the ending was weak. Good things. I loved the character Portman created. And there were alot of great moments and great scenes. One of my favorite was when he takes Portman to visit his friend and he tells her to pull her ear when she's ready to leave. The thing that happens to cause her to pull her ear is hilarious, especially the actual ear pulling moment. Lots of other great, small moments that make up a unique and engaging but somehow too hip film.

I've seen Lagaan, Monsoon Wedding, and Saturday afternoon movie music videos. Based on all that, I dig it. I just added Hum Tum, Devdas, and Chalte Chalte to my netflix queue. Anyone else recommend anything?

I agree. It's one of the best movies I've seen this year. And I thought Hanks' performance was one of his best ever.

    The Village

Ok, I think this is the 3rd thread I mentioned this in but I think it's very obvious that Spielberg was well aware of the dream/fantasy sequence in Minority Report. From the moment Cruise gets arrested, there is a drastic shift in colors. The film before that moment was shot in cools, dark blues, grays, etc. After he gets arrested, there is a golden yellow look from that point on. Other then putting up a title card saying "THIS IS NOW A FANTASY", I don't know how Spielberg could have made it more obvious that it was a dream, without being insulting to the audience.

I don't see the plot relevance of the aura itself but this scene does make sense to me even if she does see brody's aura. He had attempted to kill Lucious and he was now attacking her. She did all she could to defend herself, aura or no aura.
