  1. I've heard Eugene Peterson set aside 3 hours (of his work schedule) a week to read Dostoevsky.
  2. I always thought Nick Stahl would've made a good Anakin (instead of Christensen).

  4. The first season was great, but everything else was terrible. One of the most magnificent declines I have ever witnessed.
  5. Arrested Development, 24, Heroes...but I want Firefly.
  6. Woven Hand has a new album coming out for 2014. Few details on it though.
  7. I watched it tonight. Not as good as the first one. I was surprised by how brief some of the cameos actually were. I will be disappointed if the low box office returns leads to them cancelling Machete Kills...In Space.
  8. Will Doug Jones finally get his chance to play Puddleglum?
  9. The term I've heard is "companion show." I think a spinoff has to carry over at least one character from the original series, and plans are for this to be a completely new cast, just in the same zombie-tastic universe. Makes sense. The Killing's been cancelled (again) and Breaking Bad is nearing its end. Plus, The Walking Dead is wildly popular. Does AMC have any other shows in the works? Isn't there a sci-fi series in development?
  10. Last week Lee Bozeman announced that Luxury is looking to record their fifth album. They've set up a Kickstarter to help gain the funding and they have a little video of them discussing their lives as of late and their plans for the album. Looks like they've added another member and three of them are Orthodox priests. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1057486100/record-5
  11. Since Doc Martin has become available on Netflix Canada my parents and I have been going through the series. In fact, we finished all the episodes available online and I ran to the library today to pick up season 4. Does anyone else watch the show? Thoughts?
  12. A few of my Facebook friends have been posting about Ben Rector. His new album The Walking In Between was released Aug 20 on iTunes but it still hasn't been released on physical CD yet. Apparently it was produced by Charlie Peacock so that's a good sign. I love the single off the album that was available for a free download on the US iTunes a few weeks back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4NiCN5TA9U Has anyone given it a listen?
  13. I've been reading quite a bit this summer. I finished these four over the last week. Alister McGrath - Christianity's Dangerous Idea: The Protestant Revolution: A History from the 16th Century to the 21st Paul F.M. Zahl - The Protestant Face of Anglicanism Gordon T. Smith - A Holy Meal: The Lord's Supper in the Life of the Church Gordon T. Smith (ed) - The Lord's Supper: Five Views I'm currently reading N.T. Wright's The Last Word: Beyond the Bible Wars to a New Understanding of the Authority of Scripture.
  14. I've been following it, although I missed the last episode. I have enjoyed it so far.
  15. I haven't purchased a heckuva lot of albums this year, but I really like the third Spirituals EP by Cush.
  16. But that scene where that one Ewok died is the most tragic scene in cinematic history...
  17. This is a silly question, but is it Robert singing on the BRMC cover? If I recall correctly he's not the main vocalist for the band...
  18. It's been a little while now since Pope Francis' election and I don't pretend to be an expert commentator on ecclesiastical affairs in the Catholic and Anglican Churches, but it seems to me as if they've both followed the same path since electing their leaders. Both Rowan Williams and Pope Benedict XVI have reputations as being brilliant theologians whereas both Archbishop Welby and Pope Francis have been praised for their more pastoral approach to leading their churches.
  19. I found it (perhaps morbidly) ironic that people were giving a "thumbs up" to Facebook posts about Ebert's death.
  20. I wish they would have at least let some of the games that seemed near completion be finished at LucasArts (i.e. Star Wars 1313).
  21. That's an interesting title for his upcoming album. I admit I did not watch the first video but by the name I wonder if he's disavowing some of his Calvinism? That would be very frustrating for me, not because I am part of that tradition, but because She Must And Shall Go Free is such a wonderful album (in my top 3 of the 2000s) and I desperately want him to return to that rich lyricisim and folk-rock sound.

    Babette's Feast

I wanted to see Babette's Feast but the copy I took out from the library was in poor condition and kept pausing.
  23. I was sick last week with a cold and so I watched a lot of television. I got through House of Cards and enjoyed it but then I decided to watch the BBC series its based of off of. It's interesting seeing the similarities between the two. Francis Urquhart (F.U.) breaks the fourth wall even more than Spacey's character.
