  1. Well, I guess I'm out of my mind, then.
  2. In terms of arrangement, "The Numbers" reminds me of another Godrich production, Beck's "Sea Change". This can only be a good thing. I'm pretty well taken by the entire album, though.
  3. This is still even debatable? I like the first couple Oasis albums, and a few thing here and there after those, but Blur has pulled away in a big way.
  4. Beautifully put, Josh. Like you, I can't help but draw some parallels between this album and D'Angelo's from last year, but this feels like more of an emotional response to the failings of our culture where D'Angelo's album feel a bit more like an intellectual one.
  5. I'm just referring to the physical release of Vulnicura.
  6. I enjoyed this album, but I can completely sympathize with the notion that these lyrics don't make a lot of sense for a 56 year old. From her catalog, nothing touches Like a Prayer with me, but I think the album is at least as good as Music, anyway.
  7. March is a very busy month for new releases. Bjork gets personal, Sufjan returns to simplicity (it seems so far from songs that have been released), and Kendrick gets revolutionary. Can't wait!
  8. Yeah, I sort of wanted to buy the vinyl album partly for large artwork, but I really don't think I need that blown up further. Eyesore.

    http://www.npr.org/event/music/388196234/live-tuesday-sleater-kinney-in-concert You're welcome.
  10. A lot of good ones mentioned here. I like Dolorean's "Country Clutter" as a break-up/kiss-off sort of song.
  11. "Blank Space" was stuck in my head for days. I rather like it, but I'm sure it's aided by the visual accompaniment of the video, which is just funny.
  12. He seems to know a lot, but to what end? The vast majority of critics who have just as much background knowledge continue to rave. I'm sticking with "instant classic" myself.
  13. I've listened to it more, to see if I've cooled on it, and I haven't. I think it may well be a masterpiece - not a term I use often or loosely.
  14. I can't stop listening to this album. I should get to other things, but there's a world here to explore.
  15. Yeah, I don't know enough about the genre to say much beyond a basic response in how the music makes me feel. But, I enjoy some electronic music, and this feels about as endearingly human as it gets.
  16. I like it. I like it a lot. I entered a contest to win the right to buy the extremely limited deluxe edition, but I really don't know what I'll do if I win (it's a lot of money).
  17. I need a new air conditioning unit, but somehow, this seems more urgent.
  18. Well, a couple figures around God got to keep theirs, so it's not even a consistent choice. My favorite part of your review was concerning Dean Cain. I can't figure out why he's in the picture either, other than to throw in someone else, other than Hercules and Willie (the latter's appearance seems similarly haphazard), people would recognize.
  19. The weirdest thing about that cut is that the heavenly beings surrounding God are intact.
  20. Maybe I missed this earlier in the thread, but did anyone else notice that the "Creation of Adam" was edited in the film? It's the least of the film's problems, but it's just a weird choice.
  21. I don't know if bad taste is a good way to put it, but I do see a lot of Christians put a lot of weight on lesser art that they view as Christian that isn't really all that ambitious or worthwhile next to some of what I see from the mainstream. This is true more in music than anywhere else - I know very few Christians that would regard "Persecuted" as the best film of the year, but still, rating DC Talk over Radiohead for '95 is just silly to me.
  22. Radio in most places I've been hasn't been great shakes. I sometimes hate-listen to AM talk radio, which has a schedule something like this: 6-9: local guy kvetches about Democrats, Obama 9-12: Glenn Beck kvetches about Democrats, Obama 12-3: Rush Limbaugh kvetches about Democrats, Obama 3-6: local guy who won't last long kvetches about Democrats, Obama 6-9: Sean Hannity . . . I think you get the idea. NPR is genuinely good for news, and I enjoy their jazz program at night, but I think during the day, it'd be great to be able to hook in the iPod. My next car stereo system *must* have some kind of auxiliary input. I have yet to find a radio tuner that works well.
  23. I've been listening to it, but I don't have much to add to what you said, tbh.
  24. I most recently saw her on "Oz" (the prison TV drama, not to be confused with any other Oz). I loved her in that, too.
  25. I had to think for a moment what the last four albums are, and take a stab at guessing. In Rainbows? (I can't agree anyway, but it's my favorite of that particular bunch)
