  1. Just out of curiosity, I looked up their past show dates. They haven't really gone out on a proper tour since '96. After that they took a 3 year break *, then from '99 to '04 they only ever played strings of 2-3 shows (probably weekends) here & there. During that period, Chicago, IL was the furthest west and Alexandria, VA the furthest south they travelled. They played their last regular show in Sept '04 in PA & then a radio show in Feb '05, but nothing since then. Four shows (NY, PA, MA) in '07 were scheduled, but then later canceled. Most of the fans would really love it if they went out on a tour that extended beyond a few spot dates on the east coast, but I'd be really surprised if that actually happened while they still have young families and other priorities. Don occasionally played solo shows in & around Lancaster, PA (his solo stuff, not innocence mission songs), but I haven't heard about any in a few years. Mike is slightly more active, playing bass with local bands and artists here & there. * I thought for sure they played 2-3 Lilith fair shows around '98, but I may be mistaken as nothing is listed for that year.
  2. IIRC, they did not even play a single show to support their last album - some were scheduled but then cancelled. I'm hoping their new stuff isn't as bland as their last few releases, which are virtually indistinguishable to me. I miss the days of their first 4 albums which are so distinctly different from one another.
  3. I'm not going to get into the "gay or not gay" debate, but thought I'd mention this: "Size Too Small" and "The Dress Looks Nice On You" are about an older girlfriend he had in high school. Someone transcribed his stories and posted them at SongMeanings: Size Too Small and Dress Looks Nice On You
  4. I have heard that Vol6 features the Dessners from The National. I really wish someone would leak that volume.
  5. Nick and Starr actually did the fist bump this week. LOL! What I miss this season is the occasional extra long leg, when teams arrived at the check-in mat only to hear Phil tell them that the leg is not yet over and then he gives them the next clue.
  6. If the Wonder Twins ever gets made into a live-action movie, Nick and Starr could, um, star. Every week I keep waiting for them to bump their fists together and say: "Wonder Twin powers, activate!" I've also figured out who Sarah reminds me of: Mary Katherine Gallagher (SNL character played by Molly Shannon).
  7. There are a couple of other Danielson releases/reissues coming soon too. Sept 23: DANIELSON FAMILE - Tell Another Joke At The Ol' Choppin' Block 2xLP (Secretly Canadian) DANIELSON FAMILE - Fetch the Compass Kids LP (Secretly Canadian) DANIELSON FAMILE - Tri-Danielson!!! (Alpha/Omega) 2xLP (Sounds Familyre) Oct 21: DANIELSON - Our Givest (Remix) 7" (Secretly Canadian) SC191
  8. Two songs from Ten Stones as well as the cover artwork and release date (Sept 9) are up now on Sounds Familyre's myspace page.
  9. Emil = Emil Nikolaison of Serena-Maneesh. From S-M blog:
  10. The original announcement from SF made it sound like Ten Stones was coming out in April but it will actually not be released until September. My guess is that it will be out sooner in Europe, as usual.
  11. My Brightest Diamond has a new album coming out on June 17 titled A Thousand Shark's Teeth.
  12. No "Best Of 16HP" CD yet, but there will be a new live 2 CD set coming soon titled Live: March 2001. I think it is out now in Europe and it will be out in early May in the US on Alternative Tentacles.
  13. Also, the song "Consecration" on the myspace page will be on an upcoming compilation with the soundtrack to Awake, My Soul: The Story of the Sacred Harp. Others on the compilation (disc 2): the innocence mission, Sufjan Stevens, Jim Lauderdale and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones. No specific details yet.
  14. Woven Hand's new album, Ten Stones, will be released in April (specific date TBA) and DEE & Ordy will play a few shows in the Eastern Plains. Sounds Familyre has the details. This might be the first time they have started promoting/touring their new album in the US before Europe.
  15. No More No Depression
  16. Leigh confirms the rumors on her myspace blog:
  17. Is this it? Only the first few paragraphs are available on the site unless you are a subscriber. I just looked it up on EBSCO and found the full-text article and also a 9-page PDF of the scanned magazine pages. Some of you may have access to EBSCO via your local library. I don't know the rules about posting copyrighted works so I did not include it here.
  18. I heard that they are scheduled to play at Cornerstone this summer. I guess this is still just hearsay, but FWIW here is a message board posting I just read: Sixpence None The Richer, Together again? Why yes they are!

    Katy Perry

Katy Perry is plastered on a bunch of ads at myspace announcing myspace fashion. Apparently she has a new EP out titled "UR SO GAY"
  20. Don Peris has quietly released an instrumental Christmas album, Brighter Visions Beam Afar. Also, he has a show coming up in December: Prince Street Cafe - Lancaster PA - Dec 15th
  21. From the latest Sounds Familyre newsletter:
  22. It is not listed on their site, but OtR will play a free show in Harrisburg, PA at Whitaker Center (Stage 2) on Nov 2 at 12 pm. This is an XPN Free @ Noon show and will be broadcast on the air, so even if you can't make it to the show you can listen online live, or later when it is added to the archives. Presumably the RSVP sign-up for this show will be available after next week's Free @ Noon concert is over. This was announced last night at a Cowboy Junkies show and confirmed by a listing on Whitaker's site.
  23. Frank Schaeffer has a new book coming out in October. I read a short review of it in Kirkus and it sounds interesting. I'm not sure what the final title is (probably what is on Amazon) - Amazon - Crazy for God: How I Grew Up as One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right, and Lived to Take All (or Almost All) of It Back Kirkus - Crazy for God: How I Helped Found the Religious Right and Ruin America
  24. Since they cancelled all their shows back in the fall I guess this is as close as anyone will get to seeing a live performance from them:
  25. I definitely like Fauxliage a lot better than Leigh's solo album, but that release was so unspectacular that it is not hard to top.
