  1. The first time I met Scott, sometime in 2003 or 2004, he mentioned that he had done some work for Bruckheimer. Was this it, I wonder? - - - Bruckheimer to produce 'Beware the Night' In a change of pace from its recent output of four-quadrant blockbusters, Jerry Bruckheimer Films will produce "Beware the Night," a paranormal police thriller from director Scott Derrickson ("Sinister") that Eric Bana is in negotiations to topline. Story follows a New York cop who investigates demonic possessions, exorcisms and other supernatural occurences. . . . Derrickson is a hot commodity as a filmmaker, as his low-budget horror pic "Sinister" has grossed nearly $50 million Stateside. He and Boardman co-wrote Atom Egoyan's West Memphis 3 movie "Devil's Knot," which stars Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon. In addition to working on remakes of several horror classics, Derrickson is attached to direct "Goliath" for Relativity Media and Temple Hill, as well as Blumhouse's adaptation of Stephen King's "The Breathing Method." . . . 2. QUOTE Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson are set to star in THE EXORCISM OF ANNELIESE MICHEL, a drama inspired by true events that will be directed by Scott Derrickson for Screen Gems. Derrickson wrote the script with Paul Boardman. It's about an attorney who defends a Catholic priest who has been charged with the negligent homicide of a 19-year-old girl whose exorcism he presided over. The case reawakens faith in the lawyer. Shooting begins in November in Vancouver. Anybody know anything about "true events" that inspired this?
  3. It's difficult to find much about this film this early, but I've seen that Scott has been promoting it. ScreenDaily: Other Angle Pictures has acquired international rights to Italian actress and director Asia Argento’s Incompresa ahead of its premiere in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard. The feature, Argento’s third, is loosely inspired by her childhood as the daughter of the genre maestro Dario Argento and actress Daria Nicolodi who collaborated on classics such as Suspiria and Inferno before going their separate ways. French-Anglo actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, another child of famous parents who has been a friend of Argento since meeting on the set of the 2000 mini-series Les Misérables, plays the lead Italian-language role, based loosely on Nicolodi. “We really believe in this film… it’s special, very emotional and personal, with nuances of the cinema of Sophia Coppola and Paolo Sorrentino,” said Other Angle co-chief Olivier Albou .... The Italian language trailer is up. The imagery looks like it is of the highest caliber.
  4. The LA Times reports that Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) is working with Scott Derrickson on an as-yet-untitled horror project. Scott, are you there? Are you doing this before David and Goliath? At the same time?
  5. Because, well... Derrickson was just sitting around, twiddling his thumbs, looking for something to do... Scott Teems, as you know, made That Evening Sun.
  6. IESB.net spreads the rumour. My two bits. My four-year-old comments on the DVD of the original film. Oh, and since subheads don't show up in search engines: Scott Derrickson.
