  1. Native Son

There's an adaptation of Richard Wright's Native Son on the way: The story mentions the 1986 movie version with Oprah Winfrey, but there was also a 1951 version with Richard Wright as Bigger Thomas. Both are on YouTube, though I am doubtful of the legality of either upload. Here's a trailer for the 1951 version:
  2. In Dubious Battle

Sigh. Links to our threads on: Child of God The Sound and the Fury As I Lay Dying The Broken Tower American Tabloid Howl [not Franco-directed]
  3. American Pastoral

Deadline: FWIW, I did a search and found nothing. Feel free to ahem me if need be. Link to the thread on the Great American Novel, where Roth is mentioned. Here's Adam Chandler begging people to stop adapting Roth. Of the previous Roth adaptations, we seem to only have a thread on The Human Stain.
  4. Freedom [Showtime]

Daniel Craig to Star in Jonathan Franzen's 'Purity' at Showtime Link to our thread on The Corrections adaptation, which apparently never got picked up. I've not had the time or the inclination to dig into Franzen, but I know some folks around here have, so I thought we might want a thread on this (and, who knows, perhaps I'll wind up reading the novel to prep for the show).
  5. Armies of the Night

The Wrap: Link to our thread on Norman Mailer. Link to our thread on true-life novels, where Mailer comes up. Links to our threads on Berlinger's Paradise Lost and Crude. Berlinger is also mentioned in the thread on The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
