Shockingly, I can't find a thread for Lady Bird, now nominated for 5 Academy Awards (which we all know doesn't mean much). So either something's terribly wrong with A&F, or that I'm a terrible user of the forum's search function (probably the latter). I rather liked this. It took me a little while to get into it; the characters weren't entirely clicking for me until a plot twist almost half way through, but after that nearly everything fell into place, including what had come before. Gerwig and Hawke are great playing variations on their best known screen personas. Moore is the MVP. My review: https://catholiccinephile.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/maggies-plan/

Judging from my Twitter peeps at Sundance, Mistress America looks like a big hit. Several people said it's his funniest comedy and that the Baumbach/Gerwig chemistry is getting stronger. I can't wait. Here's a review.

I've never watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother, but I'm starting a thread for the spinoff because Greta Gerwig is the star, and will produce and write for the show, as well.
