No stills of Hot Pie in action yet. Bummer.

Gotta wait for season two, I think.

But I think I spy Bronn and Samwell in two of those photos. Nice.

Ah, but Hot Pie has been cast.

WHAT. That's amazing. I see they cast Lommy too. Oh, Lommy...remember to yield!

So, is this Lord of The Rings Fantasy (magic, fantastic creatures, etc) or Pillars of the Earth Fantasy (historical fiction)?

The former, but with a major dose of the latter — there's a major downplay on all things fantastical, and the book series focuses mostly on the political intrigue and military clashing between various (human) kingdoms.

What Jason said. And that's why I like it so much. There's talk of magic, dragons, and other fantastical things, but they (mostly) exist on the series' periphery, adding a nice amount of exoticism to the political and personal intrigue that forms the series' core. However, I have a feeling that the series' magic quotient is going to increase a bit as it nears its end and we find out more about the Others, the true nature of Westeros' seasons, etc.

Oh, thanks, Michael! I meant to post this earlier, but forgot. (Probably because I was too focused on looking at screencap reports from the video.)

I'm seriously considering getting HBO just to watch this.

Very cool little teaser. A bit more surreal and abstract than the others, but does a good job of capturing the tone methinks.

That really, really looks like Joan Allen at seconds 12 and 13. Is she in this now too?

Nope, it's Michelle Fairley. The only thing I know her from is playing Hermione's mom in the Harry Potter films.

Here's a link to Fairley's page on the Game of Thrones wiki.

Good heavens. The resemblance is remarkable, both in the preview and on that page.

Slight nitpick: she only played Hermione's mom in Deathly Hallows (both parts, admittedly, but still).

Hermione's mom was played by Heather Bleasdale in Chamber of Secrets.

I knew I could count on you, Peter. :)

And Jeff, I agree — the resemblance is uncanny.

A somewhat minor character in the series, but still:

Margaret John, who plays Old Nan in Game of Thrones, dies at 84.

Nice little introduction to the main parts of the world the story is based in.

Yet another new teaser/trailer. This just keeps looking better and better.

We should do an A&F live chat when this comes out, though I imagine it would be largely silent until the credits.

I dunno. There's bound to be a lot of Hot Pie-related things we could discuss.

Shoot... I'm still trying to find someone whose HBO I can borrow. (We don't have cable TV.)

Ditto. Knowing how HBO operates, I'll at least be able to rent the DVDs of the first season in three years.

Does HBO stream episodes of their series online?
