John Drew
Picked up these three tonight. Evan C
Sorry for the topic diversion, but since I had a generous gift card, which I had been saving for the sale, I picked up these as well. Evan C
Charade was at the top of mine, but I couldn't find the Blu-ray anywhere in the store, even though the computer said it was in stock, so I figured I'd wait until next sale. I would try placing a hold on it at your store via the website. If the employees can't find it, you can often do a ship-to-home order where you still get the membership discount. I'm not sure if you have to be at your store to do that, or if you could do it over the phone. Quote Qua Humbug | @du_Garbandier
John Drew
Checked back in at my B&N, and picked up a copy of the restocked Kagemusha blu-ray. Then I went over budget and picked up Stalker, which they only got in today. I must say, Kagemusha may have the most beautiful accompanying booklet of any Criterion film I've come across. I see that this post is from last summer, but I can't agree more. There's a book out there of Kurosawa's painted storyboards for RAN also, which I really need to just buy some time. Joshua Wilson
I was only going to get one disc due to financial prudence, but due to an unexpected refund, I was able to get the Dietrich-Von Sternberg set and ONLY ANGELS HAVE WINGS.

Joshua Wilson
Nice, Evan. I'm holding out for the sweet MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS release at the end of the month. If I can swing another title, I will go with something on my long list of coveted favorites...
Russ
I've skipped the last several sales, but it makes sense for me to pick up a few titles for the girls to give me for Christmas. Everybody wins. So I grabbed PHOENIX, but the other two I really want--PERSONAL SHOPPER and NASHVILLE--were not in stock at the store I went to. Darren H
I had a coupon and needed to buy a book and then somehow Only Angels Have Wings, Moonrise, Cat People, and The Black Stallion found their way into my shopping cart. Nick Alexander
There's a flash Criterion Sale going on at the Criterion.com website, right now, only a few hours left. I just purchased Blus of Some Like It Hot, Mildred Pierce, and A Matter of Life and Death. kenmorefield
Amazon's "Prime Day" is pretty underwhelming, but but most of the Criterions are another 5-10 $ off from Barnes & Noble sale if any sets or Blu-rays are at or near your squeal point. Christian
A Criterion fan I follow on Twitter has retweeted a follower of his claiming the Barnes and Noble Criterion sale starts July 10. I don’t see confirmation on bn.com yet, but I’m hoping this report is confirmed soon. It’ll be the first such sale under the chain’s new owner. I wasn’t sure he’d continue with the Criterion sales, so I’m encouraged. Overstreet
The sale is totally on... and I am in torment. Too short of spending cash to participate this time. So many titles I'm drooling over. I've said it before, but I think - I think - that Three Colors trilogy is the crown jewel of my DVD/Blu-ray collection, although I wonder how much of that ranking is just my subjective response to the films themselves (and not so much the Criterion presentation, which is, to my eyes, exceptional - although again, that reaction may be colored by my deep love of Blue and Red). I'll be curious to hear if you have a similar reaction. In the Criterion trilogy department, I'll add that I used the final Saturday of the sale to buy the Antonioni "alienation" trilogy that so affected me when I watched the standard-def Criterion DVDs in the run-up to the 2020 A&F Top 100 vote. I've yet to watch the Blus, but am looking forward to doing so soon.
