In celebration of 15 years with our column we have revamped our website.

Denny

Since 1995 we have authored a commentary on film, cinema in focus. Though we enjoy cinema as an art form, our interests lie not so much in reviewing a film as in beginning a conversation about the social and spiritual values presented. We, therefore, often rate a film higher or lower due to its message rather than its quality of acting or film-making.

Did websites even exist back then? ;)

"Sympathy must precede belligerence. First I must understand the other, as it were, from the inside; then I can critique it from the outside. So many people skip right to the latter." -- Steven D. Greydanus
Now blogging at Patheos.com. I can also still be found at Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. See also my film journal.

That's so true. When we first started our column I had to literally walk a floppy disk to the newspaper with the column each week!! It was great when we not only had a way to email the column but to make past columns available online...

What a world...

Congratulations, Denny!

That's dedication, Denny. I remember featuring you in the first few installments of CT's Film Forum, IIRC, and you'd been at it for years before that. Congrats!

P.S.  I COULD BE WRONG.

Takin' 'er easy for all you sinners at lookingcloser.org. Also abiding at Facebook and Twitter.

Yes - I remember how pleased we were to find a group of reviewers who looked at film more as we did. We had held some retreats and had primarily come across reviewers who were interested in the number of curse words or scenes of nudity rather than what we considered far more important - the values and worldviews presented. Although I don't have time to particiapte in this forum as much as I would like, I have benefited greatly from the ideas presented here.
