This is freaking mind-boggling. The connection they found between Petra and Mono:

First we start with Petra

that has member Quinton Gibson

that was member of Plumb

that has member J.J. Placencio

that was member of Sixpence None the Richer

that has member Leigh Nash

that was member of Fauxliage

that has member Rhys Fulber

that was member of Delerium

that has member Michael Balch

that was member of Ministry

that has member Sin Quirin

that was member of Revolting Cocks

that has member Duane Denison

that was member of Tomahawk

that has member John Stanier

that was member of Battles

that has member Ian Williams

that was member of Don Caballero

that has member Damon Che

that was member of Bellini

that has member Giovanna Cacciola

that performed vocal on the track Black Rain by MONO

I'm yet to be able to stump it with any musicians it has heard of.

This is amazing good fun. Just shows that every musician and band is part of one genre anyway, no matter what they play.

MUSIC!!!!

Nuts, only 19 steps between Keith Green and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult or Voivod. 21 between Keith Green and Einsturzende Neubauten. 24 between Keith Green and Android Lust.

Can't crack 25.

8 steps from Disney kid Demi Lovato to Leonard Nimoy.

7 from Weird Al to Al Jolson.

11 from Insane Clown Posse to The Wiggles (the trail goes through Motown, btw).

21 from Jonsi to Frightened Rabbit.

26 from Amy Grant to Antlers Mulm (I was looking for the indie band The Antlers, but this is what came up). If you were curious like I was, Antlers Mulm is a German electronic project of Hans Johm.

Also:

Yanni to NWA = 6 steps

The Imperials to Einsturzende Neubauten = 11 steps

The Field Mice to Keith Green = 17 steps

Steve Green to Burzum = 20 steps

I couldn't get Shroud or Iceburn to register. I noticed that REM is a very frequent bridge builder.

I put Guitar Wolf with Antlers Mulm, and connected them in 32 steps. It looks like the trick is to find the most obscure acts in the database and put them together.

I went from Tom Waits to Joanna Newsom in only 5 steps. I think the internet just exploded.

The Roots to Carman in just FOUR steps. I am TERRIFIED. 8O

Wu-Tang Clan to Sandi Patty only takes 4, as well.

I can't find anyone connecting to Anathallo.

Ha! Stumped it:

Can't find a path from Fra Lippo Lippi to The Alpha Band

A lot of CCM-to-secular links run through Gere Fennelly, ex-Redd Kross keyboardist who was also a bandmate of 77's drummer Aaron Smith in Romeo Void. Gere was the organist at Brentwood Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles for part of the time I attended there...

This has been quite fun. The longest chain I've had so far is 23 steps - Annette Funicello to Aphex Twin.

The longest string I've been able to make so far is The Warlocks to Keith Green in 25 steps. Which finally proves that dark psychedelia and 70s CCM don't mix.

The Imperials to Marilyn Manson in ten steps. The heavens are not smiling on these steps.
