Anna J
Dear friends, Thank you for your patience! We have taken your votes and suggestions of the past several days into account, and have settled on the following guidelines. Nominations are open now, and close midnight December 17. The final poll will open on December 20, and close midnight January 3. The IMAGE staff will keep a current list of nominations and seconds in the post immediately following this one and update it every weekday. This thread is for nominations and seconds only; discussion of nominations should be here. Rules: 1) Only 100 films will be grandfathered in: the winning films on the 2010 list (NOT the earlier lists). 2) Nominations must follow the same format as last year (you can link to the info in last year’s nomination post if there is one; just make sure the YouTube link is working): Title: Director: Running Time: Language: IMDB Link: YouTube Link (a clip of the film): Link to the A&F thread on the film (if there is one): 3) Every nomination must be seconded before appearing on the ballot (some require thirds--see below). To second, simply reply to the nomination post with “Second.” 4) Every A&F member can nominate up to 25 films. 5) There is no limit on nominating films from the same director; however, only the top three vote-getters per director will be allowed on the final list. 6) No films released after December 31, 2008 can be nominated. 7) TV series of more than one season cannot be nominated. 8) Miniseries and special TV-to-cinema works like Dekalog, which have appeared in theatres sometimes or in parts, are eligible for nomination; they must receive a third nomination to appear on the final ballot. 9) Trilogies and series of films shall be considered as separate films unless: a. They were filmed at once by the same director and crew, e.g. Lord of the Rings b. The theme and plots are interwoven in such a way as to necessitate the watching of all films to complete an understanding of each, e.g. Trois Couleurs Trilogies and series nominated as a single work must also receive a third nomination to appear on the final ballot. 10) If you see anything flawed in our proposed system, please point it out ASAP in the discussion thread and we'll consider making adjustments.
