Vijay Iyer Trio - Accelerando

It's streaming... and it's great. This version of "Human Nature" is as good as any I've heard, and certainly a worthy heir to Iyer's previous, solo version as well as Miles' rendition.

Thank you for letting me know! Drat -- have to transcribe interviews this morning and can't listen to Vijay at the moment. But I will. I will.

I think the album is terrific. I think the Vijay Iyer Trio is one of the most innovative and interesting jazz combos out there right now. And I'm going to get to see them in concert this week. Woo-Hoo!

Have fun! Wish I could've seen the group in D.C. last year, but it didn't work out.

This is a glorious album, isn't it? And with new and great albums from Brad Mehldau and Kenny Werner to go along with Robert Glasper's opus, this may very well be the year of the jazz pianist. Don't tell Pitchfork.

Went for my Vijay fix and found this:

Audio is no longer available.

:(

On the plus side, the new Esperanza Spalding recording is now streaming.

Chinen raves, and calls it an early contender for Jazz Album of the Year-- a sentiment I'd likely agree with, were Robert Glasper not around.

Pop Matters loves it too. Will Layman says

It’s the best album of 2012 in jazz by the best band in jazz, no doubt. The Vijay Iyer Trio sounds like jazz history in real time, unfurling for your personal revelation.

Listen up: this is why music matters.

I've been listening to it on repeat all morning via Grooveshark. What a monster!
