How to Write a New Book for the Bible

Recommended Posts

Saw this at South Coast Rep yesterday with same cast that it premiered with at Seattle and Berkeley Reps. Anybody else seen it yet?

Written by Bill Cain, a Jesuit priest, it is an autobiographical look at his functional family through the lens of caring for his mother before her death. It does quite well capturing the frustrations of caring for ailing parents.

There is a certain irreverence about it, but it also treats family history and relationships as the way we know the sacred in our lives.

I saw this in Seattle, and loved it. I was amazed to hear the sacred dealt with so straightforwardly, and my own take is that the irreverence is what allows it to happen. Love Bill Cain's work.
