Haunting Songs

Recommended Posts

Those of you who are my friend on Facebook probably notice I post a "song of the day" - usually just something that's new and struck my ear, but once in awhile I do a theme. It just struck me, being in the Halloween season to do a series of songs that "haunt" me. Not necessarily scary, just songs that dig in and don't let go. These might not be your favorite songs, but ones you just can't shake. Maybe they haunt your mind or heart or spirit in some way.

Here's my list I'll be posting on my Facebook wall over the next few days (SPOILERS):

Charlie Sexton - Sunday Clothes

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - The Mercy Seat

U2 - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

The Swirling Eddies - The Twist

Mark Heard - Nod Over Coffee

Rich Mullins - We Are Not As Strong As We Think We Are

Terry Scott Taylor - Writer's Block

The Choir - About Love

Bruce Cockburn - Lovers in a Dangerous Time

The Call - I Still Believe

Tonio K. - Pardon Me

I'm curious: what songs "haunt" you? And why?

Tyler

I'll go ahead and embed this one, since I doubt anyone else on here knows the band.

Another obscure one: "A Lament for the Snowtunnel" by Kerith Ravine. I can't even find it on YouTube, but you can listen to it here.

My list of songs like this is enormous. But this morning, the one that haunts me is "Casimir Pulaski Day."

Since I just crafted a Halloween playlist for a family event, I was a little bummed to find that this thread exists, but that sharing the songs on this list would not work for this thread.  :(

No one else knows them? This is Arts & Faith, yo! Love this song and this record. Saw these guys multiple times in Seattle back in the early 00s.
