Nathaniel
Spike Jonze's Her is like Demon Seed, only less pulpy and suspenseful. Quote "A great film is one that to some degree frees the viewer from this passive stupor and engages him or her in a creative process of viewing. The dynamic must be two-way. The great film not only comes at the viewer, it draws the viewer toward it." -Paul SchraderTwitter Letterboxd
Mr. Arkadin
Spike Jonze's Her is like Demon Seed, only less pulpy and suspenseful. Don't ever change, Nate. It might be the critical darling of 2013, but Her looks just awful. Edited December 20, 2013 by Ryan H. Quote I've Seen That Movie Too
Christian
It's not awful -- it's very good for what it is, and for what it's trying to do. But I found it a bit short of great. The hosannas from certain film critics strikes me as entirely predictable, but the plaudits have extended to some older critics, too, threatening to blow up my theory that this is a movie that generates its strongest response with 20- and 30-something white guys. Peter T Chattaway
Nate's Demon Seed comparison reminds me of something I tweeted yesterday: I can't help wondering what the response to #Her would be if the genders were reversed. Don't call it #Him, though. That title's, uh, taken. Quote "Sympathy must precede belligerence. NBooth
Setting the bar low here, but The Prophecy is a better movie about rebellious angels than Legion. But I'm willing to bet I'm right. Oh, you are. Any movie about rebel angels that fails to even think of making Lucifer a part of the story (as Legion does) is automatically inferior to a film that does (as The Prophecy does).
