Title: Up

Director: Pete Doctor, Bob Peterson

I love this film to bits, but it really does not belong in the comedy genre.

Why would it not?  A house flying with helium balloons, bizarre animals, grumpy old man,  SQUIRREL!

More to the point, if the rule of thumb is that tragedy ends with a funeral and comedy with a wedding, the relationship of Carl and Russell at the end is that of joining together as family.

A foreign movie can't be stupid.

I see your point, also it's imdb page puts it in the genre of "adventure" and "comedy". Perhaps it's not a comedy for me personally, but it seems that a relevant case can be made for it. If somebody else wishes to second the film, I won't object.

I guess if I had the audacity to vote, I should add a suggestion : - )

The Bucket List (2007)

Director: Rob Reiner

Language: English

Run time: 97 minutes

Side note, on a quote from the film—

Edward (Jack Nicholson): “You ever read The Divine Comedy?”

Co-Worker: “Excuse me, sir?”

Edward: The Divine Comedy, Dante Alighieri's journey into hell.”

I haven't seen the film, but if that's a quote from it, I'll second on that basis. Even as a "lesser" comedy itself, a direct direct reference could be a great starting point as an introduction to the list and worth at least being part of the conversation.

"It's a dangerous business going out your front door." -- J.R.R. Tolkien
"I want to believe in art-induced epiphanies." -- Josie
"I would never be dismissive of pop entertainment; it's much too serious a matter for that." -- NBooth

"If apologetics could prove God, I would lose all faith in Him." -- Josie

"What if--just what if--the very act of storytelling is itself redemptive? What if gathering up the scraps and fragments of a disordered life and binding them between the pages of a book in all of their fragmentary disorder is itself a gambit against that disorder?" -- NBooth

I found it online here, and it absolutely should be part of this discussion, as well as a very probable contender for the list.  So, seconded.

"Anyway, in general I love tragic artists, especially classical ones."

"Even the forms for expressing truth can be multiform, and this is indeed necessary for the transmission of the Gospel in its timeless meaning."
