It bums me out that there doesn't seem to be any way to add polls to existing threads in the current version of the board, but oh well.

The nominees for the Oscar are (with the ones I've seen in bold):

  • Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight
  • Rooney Mara, Carol
  • Rachel McAdams, Spotlight
  • Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl
  • Kate Winslet, Steve Jobs
So the Academy agrees with SAG on four of the nominations, and switched out Helen Mirren for Jennifer Jason Leigh.

And the winner is... Alicia Vikander, for The Danish Girl. This surprises me for some reason. (Not least, I suppose, because the movie character is a heavily domesticated version of the real-life character, but I guess that's a writing issue more than an acting issue.)
