Oscars 2017: Best Cinematography

Recommended Posts

The American Society of Cinematographers have announced their nominees:

  • Greig Fraser, Lion
  • James Laxton, Moonlight
  • Rodrigo Prieto, Silence
  • Linus Sandgren, La La Land
  • Bradford Young, Arrival

Prieto was previously nominated for Frida and Brokeback Mountain. The other four nominees are all first-timers. (And hey: no Chivo this year!)

The winners will be announced on February 4.

Finally, Silence gets nominated for something.

"Anyway, in general I love tragic artists, especially classical ones."

"Even the forms for expressing truth can be multiform, and this is indeed necessary for the transmission of the Gospel in its timeless meaning."

The nominees for the Oscar are (with the ones I've seen in bold):

  • Arrival
  • La La Land
  • Lion
  • Moonlight
  • Silence

So, basically, all five of the ASC nominees.

And the winner is... Greig Fraser for Lion.
