Seeking substantial writing on Mel Gibson films

1 post in this topic

One of my students is aiming to write a research paper on the films of Mel Gibson and his inclination to focus on characters who suffer injustice, persecution, and rejection.

She wrote to me after searching for sources, saying,

... I have found many online articles, but cannot manage to find good scholarly articles or books after wasting lots of time. I also have been able to find MANY articles about the movie Passion of the Christ, but I am struggling to find sources on my other films, which are Braveheart, The Man Without a Face, and Hacksaw Ridge (although I can find a bit more on Hacksaw Ridge because it is newer).

Have any of you come across (or written) substantial studies of Mel Gibson's body of work outside of the usual Passion of the Christ pieces?
