The Last Days of Disco

Recommended Posts

We have a Whit Stillman thread, but I figured this film should have its own, especially since I nominated it for the top 100. This is a comedy about unexpected moments of grace (from unexpected sources) and the subtle ways we grow (or not) while celebrating and holding fast to the things one values, even when those things are unpopular or falling out of fashion. It's the sort of comedy that would be perfect for the list.

I reviewed it a few years ago:

"Anyway, in general I love tragic artists, especially classical ones."

"Even the forms for expressing truth can be multiform, and this is indeed necessary for the transmission of the Gospel in its timeless meaning."

- Pope Francis, August 2013 interview with Antonio Spadaro
