DanBuck
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!! (as of Aug. 9, 2005 10:20 PM EST - 29 votes) Congratulations..... TexasSara!!!!! "The Outback: What happens here, stays here." - 8 votes 2nd Place Very close behind, we have....Rich Kennedy "Never MIND where I keep my kid, you pervert!" - 7 votes All others received less than three votes a piece. These were the clear leaders throughout. Feel free to claim your losing captions in this thread if you so desire. Unless there are objections, I will go on to the 2nd place pic from the earlier poll for the 3rd installment of our contest. Edited August 10, 2005 by DanBuck
DanBuck
Shameless post to move this to the top of the list again. Any thoughts on when I should close the polls. I was thinking I'd wait until I was in the lead, but um... it looks like that may not happen.
Rich Kennedy
So how many are playing? 17 votes as of right now. Quote "During the contest trial, the Coleman team presented evidence of a further 6500 absentees that it felt deserved to be included under the process that had produced the prior 933 [submitted by Franken, rk]. The three judges finally defined what constituted a 'legal' absentee ballot. Countable ballots, for instance, had to contain the signature of the voter, complete registration information, and proper witness credentials. But the panel only applied the standards going forward, severely reducing the universe of additional basentees the Coleman team could hope to have included. In the end, the three judges allowed about 350 additional absentees to be counted. The panel also did nothing about the hundreds, possibly thousands, of absentees that have already been legally included, yet are now 'illegal' according to the panel's own ex-post definition." Thom
And how many of these are actually Dan's entries? Quote ...the kind of film criticism we do. Rich Kennedy
Just because no one is voting for your entry doesn't mean that you can impune the Clown Prince. DanBuck
Funny. I have only one entry. And I don't even vote. I let my wife vote. And for the record, she's never voted for me. Let's give this a couple weekdays. I'll call an end to it on Tueday at the end of the workday EST.
MattPage
Having seen all the entries I'm wondering if we picked the wrong picture. (I say this as one who I think voted for this one, and who readily admits his own entry was incredibly lame). I wonder if we picked the funniest picture, rather than the most captionable one. Which I suspect is why, last time I looked, the entry that lets the picture do all the talking ("The Outback: What happens here, stays here.") is winning. Michael Todd
I'm surprised that he actually listed mine as one of the entries. DanBuck
See first post for results. By the way, my caption was the one-vote powerhouse about the "hoparazzi." And I'd like to point out, the guy who got us all to vote for this pic got exactly ZERO votes and doesn't like Magnolia. But I won't mention his name.

Guest stu
Mine was 'The Last Taboo' one. I voted for 'Outback' - shorter is funnier, I now realise. Still, one vote! Can't take that away from me. Page, out with it, which was yours?

MattPage
Mine was the Norway-at-the-Eurovision-song-contest spectacularly null-point-gaining "Say Cheese" I entered it just to get my creative juices running, but found out instead that that pathetic entry was the sum total of my creative juice. So instead I resported to the cycnical method of criticising the choice of picture. TexasSara
As the bridesmaid in this competition, Congratulations TexasSara! ← As the bride of the the competition, I say thank you. I didn't have to wait eight years for this engagement. Thank you for all who voted for my caption. Rich, your caption was very funny, probably funnier than mine. Do I still win a t-shirt? Rich Kennedy
Rich, your caption was very funny, probably funnier than mine. Not necessarily. Of course, I was rooting for mine, but the minute I saw yours, I knew it would win. MattPage
I didn't realise that was an advertising campaign. To me it was most similar to a phrase borrowed from the rugby world "what goes on tour stays on tour" which is used, quite literally, quite literally, to cover a multitude of sins.
