Christian Literary Journals

Recommended Posts

What Christian literary journals do you all subscribe to, read, or peruse every now and then?

"...the vivid crossing of borders between film and theology may save the film from the banality of cinema and festival business, and it may also save the church from the deep sleep of the habitual and the always known."

(Hans Werner Dannowski)

None that I can think of. I do get the weekly Books & Culture e-mail, and I often click on at least one of the story links within it. But that's about it. Between The Weekly Standard, The Atlantic Monthly, and two daily newspapers, I don't lack for reading material. More important, I don't really feel a need for Christian literary journals. I have sought out Christian poetry in the past year, and I've read several Christian books, but nothing in any journal.

Edited by Christian

"What matters are movies, not awards; experiences, not celebrations; the subjective power of individual critical points of view, not the declamatory compromises of consensus." - Richard Brody, "Godard's Surprise Win Is a Victory for Independent Cinema," The New Yorker

There is this difference between the growth of some human beings and that of others: in the one case it is a continuous dying, in the other a continuous resurrection. (George MacDonald, The Princess and Curdie)

Isn't narrative structure enough of an ideology for art? (Greg Wright)

I read IMAGE Update, and the journal when I can get my hands on it. I read Books and Culture at the library.

I write for The Other Journal and read it. It's online and not exactly literary, but it is a journal of "theology and culture." (www.theotherjournal.com)
