Hello friends,

Voting closed last night. 25 people voted, as opposed to 65 for the Top 100. Still, that's a pretty decent amount of voters.

Here, tabulated the same way as the Top100 with weights according to post count, is the final list of Arts and Faith's Top 20 Horror Films:

We need volunteers willing to write brief, 2-3 sentence (NOT 2-3 paragraph) blurbs about the films that are new to this year's list. See here for more.

Wow.

With the exception of the #6 dilemma (I still wince at equating those two movies), and the fact that I would place Alien much higher, I think it's a pretty good list.

Better than I expected, honestly. That's a pretty classy list.

I'm a bit saddened that DON'T LOOK NOW didn't make the cut, but ah well. You can't have it all. At least PEEPING TOM made it!

Cool list. I'll have to catch up with the four I haven't seen: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Freaks, Peeping Tom, and
I Walked With a Zombie. I'm happy Don't Look Now didn't make the list, but kinda iffy on Repulsion, but whatever. The Top Ten looks stellar.

How many people voted in this? Odds are, a lot less than the Top 100, right?

PS And THANK GOD there's no stinking Wicker Man.

I gave THE WICKER MAN (1973) a 5, but it wasn't enough.

That said, I'm pretty happy with the list.

That's a pretty cool list, and it's well-representative of the A&F aesthetic, I think. I'm super-pleased to see I Walked with a Zombie made the cut.

Alright, I'll be the one to ask.

Did The Exorcism of Emily Rose not make the list because some of you were voting low on it to avoid the appearance of favoritism, did it not make the list because Derrickson or the A&F administrators decided it keep it off, or did it not make the list simply because older classics like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde kept it out of the top 20?

I won't be mad or anything if it's any of the above reasons, I'm just curious is all.

There were a lot of nominees. This list is tough competition enough that Alien came in at #19. 'Nuff said.

What a terrific list. So perfect for A&F.

The most pleasant surprises for me were seeing that Croneberg's The Fly cracked the top ten, and that both Freaks and Eraserhead made the list.

Also great that after all of our discussion about what's horror and what's not, every film here clearly qualifies.

I can't believe I forgot to vote in this poll. Ah well. I like the results and look forward to catching up on the winners I haven't seen yet.

Interesting to see that the list includes a couple 1980s remakes of 1950s horror (Carpenter's The Thing, Cronenberg's The Fly), but no actual films from the 1950s themselves.

Those of us who do not think Alien is any more a horror film than Cries and Whispers or An Inconvenient Truth or Vertigo would have been happier if Alien were left off the list completely.
