That's an awesome anecdote.

Anybody know of any great Christmas jazz albums you'd recommend? I'm looking for some albums to add to the Christmas music rotation.
"God Rest Ye Merry Jazzmen" is honest-to-goodness jazz (Dexter Gordon, a young Wynton Marsalis, McCoy Tyner), and quite wonderful: http://www.amazon.co...e merry jazzmen

Dave Brubeck - A Dave Brubeck Christmas
Joe Pass - Six String Santa
Kenny Drew - Season's Greetings
Oscar Peterson - An Oscar Peterson Christmas

and of course

Vince Guaraldi - A Charlie Brown Christmas

I just downloaded The Gypsy Hombre's Django Bells, which gives a Django Reinhardt spin on several Christmas standards. I'm not all up on my musical know-how, but I do know that this is the first Christmas album I've really liked in...well, ever. What sealed the deal was the end of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," which turns an honestly too-sugary song into something resembling "Secret Agent Man".

He's fictional, but you can't have everything.

Jonathan Rosenbaum has re-posted his 1999 list of 'The 10 Best Jazz Films'.

Very cool. I've never even heard of that Burnett film.
