LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - John Rhys-Davis, who played Gimli in Peter Jackson (news)'s "Lord of Rings" saga, has been tapped to co-star in NBC's drama pilot "Revelations," which centers on a group's efforts to forestall the apocalypse.

Bill Pullman (news) stars as the group's leader. Rhys-Davis plays a wheelchair-bound Harvard professor emeritus, a genius astrophysicist and mentor to Pullman's character. Rhys-Davis will next be seen in "The Princess Diaries 2."
