He's fictional, but you can't have everything.

I started reading A Game of Thrones a week or two ago, and I'm loving it quite a bit. I unfortunately had a few things spoiled for me years ago (before I even thought of reading the series), but knowing them isn't affecting my enjoyment so far. Martin is doing a good job of ratcheting up the dread with the subtle (and not so subtle) political intrigue. I'm hoping (and assuming) this will come through clear in the show.

Here's a lengthier trailer (kudos to Mr. Morehead for this!)

Entertainment Weekly has a small but nice gallery of production stills. I'm impressed.

No stills of Hot Pie in action yet. Bummer.

Gotta wait for season two, I think.

But I think I spy Bronn and Samwell in two of those photos. Nice.

WHAT. That's amazing. I see they cast Lommy too. Oh, Lommy...remember to yield!

So, is this Lord of The Rings Fantasy (magic, fantastic creatures, etc) or Pillars of the Earth Fantasy (historical fiction)?

The former, but with a major dose of the latter — there's a major downplay on all things fantastical, and the book series focuses mostly on the political intrigue and military clashing between various (human) kingdoms.

What Jason said. And that's why I like it so much. There's talk of magic, dragons, and other fantastical things, but they (mostly) exist on the series' periphery, adding a nice amount of exoticism to the political and personal intrigue that forms the series' core. However, I have a feeling that the series' magic quotient is going to increase a bit as it nears its end and we find out more about the Others, the true nature of Westeros' seasons, etc.

Ten whole minutes.

There is a larger youtube version out there too.

Oh, thanks, Michael! I meant to post this earlier, but forgot. (Probably because I was too focused on looking at screencap reports from the video.)

I'm seriously considering getting HBO just to watch this.

Very cool little teaser. A bit more surreal and abstract than the others, but does a good job of capturing the tone methinks.

That really, really looks like Joan Allen at seconds 12 and 13. Is she in this now too?

Nope, it's Michelle Fairley. The only thing I know her from is playing Hermione's mom in the Harry Potter films.

Here's a link to Fairley's page on the Game of Thrones wiki.

Good heavens. The resemblance is remarkable, both in the preview and on that page.

Slight nitpick: she only played Hermione's mom in Deathly Hallows (both parts, admittedly, but still).

Hermione's mom was played by Heather Bleasdale in Chamber of Secrets.
